Nature, hunting and hunters #001

There are a lot of martens in the forests of the Verkhnetoyemsky district, Arkhangelsk region, and they are harvested by permits in very small numbers. But the number of squirrels has noticeably decreased. Local hunters explain this by the fact that she becomes a victim of such a predator as a marten.
Previously, there were about two hundred hunters in our village of Kacheno, each producing at least 200 squirrels and the same number of grouse per season. Now there are ten hunters left in the village. which the collective farm does not always release for fishing. We don't shoot much, because we don't get enough ammunition, and we often go 50 kilometers away to get it in the midst of fishing.
Wolves appeared in the forests, although we had never had them before. We have no organized fight against these predators, and our hunters have no experience in exterminating wolves. The State Hunting Inspectorate does not help us and does not manage the fishery. But she should have been interested in these issues and maybe increased the issuance of licenses for marten production, which would undoubtedly be a useful measure to preserve game stocks and squirrel numbers.
